PEEK traffic Speed Camera system
PEEK traffic cameras rely on radar technology and use loops in the road they first came on the scene in 1990 and are rear facing very similar to the GATSO camera. The PEEK camera system is used in built up areas but is not very common at the moment.
Counties currently using PEEK Traffic cameras include; Leicestershire, Greater London and Berkshire.
In the UK your likely to receive 3 points on your licence and a £60.00 fine if your caught by a PEEK camera. However a bill is working its way through parliament that could increase these amounts.
Whilst we don’t want to speed most of us on todays roads are trying our best to navigate from a to b in the safest way possible and a small lapse in concentration can result in a ticket and fine. Which is why we need some sort of assistance be it satellite navigation or a GPS speed camera detection system.
Speed camera detectors alert drivers to dangers in the road ahead keeping you and your passengers safe. Whilst it is not a speed cameras intention to catch speeders they are designed to reduce accidents and detection devices help alert drivers to their presence contributing to road safety.
