Mute
To silence the speed camera radar detector, press the mute button,
it will beep and the mute LED will turn on. Pressing the mute button
again turns the audio alert mode on and the mute LED off. As Radarscout
remembers its settings when switched off, as soon as you start your
engine, it will know if you have requested mute on or off.
City
To select city mode, press the city button, this will beep and illuminate
the city mode LED. To switch city mode off press the city mode again,
this will beep and the city mode LED will switch off. The city mode
has been designed to reduce unwanted audio alerts caused by non-traffic
radar systems, such as intruder alarms, automatic door openers,
microwave traffic signal controllers. False radar signals are often
encountered in urban and sub-urban areas. In this mode RadarScout
will produce no audio alert but the band indicator LED’s will
still illuminate. Because non-police signals are weak, making use
of the city mode allows you to drive through built up areas with
less audio interruptions, as police radar signals are generally
stronger they will override the city mode and activate the audio
and visual alerts.
Dim Button
The dim button provides 4-levels of brightness, each time the dim
button is pressed, a beep will be heard and the indicator LED will
cycle through the levels of brightness. Use of the dim button has
no effect on the audio alerts.
Memory Retention
The Radarscout speed camera radar detector remembers its settings
when switched off or unplugged from the cigarette lighter socket.
Mounting and power supply
The Radarscout speed camera radar detector can be mounted onto the
dashboard against the windscreen by use of a support mounted bracket
and suction pads (supplied). The unit then has a power lead, which
simply plugs into the cigarette lighter.
Summary of advanced technologies incorporated into Radar
Scout
Currently, there are over 6000 speed cameras in the U.K. with a
forecast of 3,000,000 tickets being issued in the next 12 months,
which equates to approximately £180,000,000 in fines being
generated.
With Over 24,000,000 motorists currently using the roads, there
is an ever increasing market for speed camera radar detectors.
Speed camera radar detectors work on the principle of recieving
the signal that is sent out from the loaded speed camera, the signal
will reflect off structures in front of the camera and will travel
for a distance of up to 100 metres behind the camera, there are
a very small percentage of cameras that are not located near reflective
structures therefore the range of detection for these differ, dependant
upon location.
Speed camera radar detectors have been legal since 1978 in the
UK and the market leader in non GPS systems is currently the snooper
range, with retail prices varying from an entry level device - S1
at £99.99 to the S5R at £349.99
